Holiday Wreath Auction will raise festive funds for The Center and Palm Springs Animal Shelter with hand-made holiday decor

Crafters and makers are invited to push their creativity this holiday season by contributed hand-made wreaths to the annual Holiday Wreath Auction benefiting The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert and the Palm Springs Animal Shelter.
Donated wreaths will be sold during an online silent auction and live auction at Eight4Nine Restaurant and Lounge on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Anyone wishing to contribute a wreath is asked to complete an online submission form. Finished wreaths should be dropped off at The Center, 1301 N Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs, before 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21.
The Holiday Wreath Auction continues a 30-years legacy of philanthropy started by community advocate and businessowner Dick Haskamp, who owned Streetbar in Palm Springs where the first wreath auction was held. Haskamp died in 2018, but the annual event lives on raising money for two organizations he long supported.
“In honor of our late friend Dick Haskamp, and to continue his legacy of philanthropy and community support, the annual Holiday Wreath Auction is truly special for the Palm Springs Animal Shelter,” said Palm Springs Animal Shelter Executive Director Dan Rossi. “This festive event brings the community together, raising crucial funds through beautifully crafted wreaths while celebrating the holiday season with joy and generosity.”
“The Wreath Auction is one of those events that reminds us of the magic that happens when our community comes together,” said Mike Thompson, CEO of The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert. “A huge thank you to our friends at EIGHT4NINE who, year-after-year, transform their patio into a magical, holiday wonderland!”
Wreaths will be featured online prior to Dec. 3 with a select number available through the online silent auction. Anyone wishing to attend the event and live auction at Eight4Nine, starting at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 3, can make reservations by calling (760) 325-8490.
