Animal Samaritans continues its lifesaving mission to reduce pet overpopulation in the Coachella Valley with its Free Spay & Neuter Program. Animal Samaritans has allocated $100,000 toward free spay and neuter surgeries for qualified pet owners across the region, going city to city providing access to these critical services.
To date, the program has supported: Cathedral City in June; Desert Hot Springs in July; Unincorporated Areas in August; Palm Desert in September.
Now, Animal Samaritans is extending this program to La Quinta residents.
Free spay and neuter vouchers will be available at La Quinta City Hall, located at 78-495 Calle Tampico. Applicants must present a valid photo ID showing their home address, along with proof of residency and income. Vouchers are limited to 50 and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility requirements include:
· La Quinta residency
· Household income of $5,000 per month or less for single households, or $8,000 per month or less for multi-person households
Each voucher includes:
· Free spay/neuter surgery
· Post-surgical pain medications
· Pet e-collar
· Free microchip, courtesy of the City of La Quinta
Surgeries will be performed at Animal Samaritans’ Veterinary Clinic, located at 72120 Pet Land Place in Thousand Palms. Pet owners who receive vouchers must call the clinic directly with their voucher information to schedule their appointment.
