14TH ANNUAL “CHANGE THE WORLD WITH A GIVING HEART” NATIONAL PHILANTHROPY DAY® IN THE DESERT AWARDS SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2020

The Association of Fundraising Professionals CA, Desert Communities Chapter, has announced the six distinguished Honorees for its 14th Annual National Philanthropy Day® in the Desert Awards. This annual, highly-anticipated celebration will take place on Friday, November 6, 2020 virtually.
“National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) In The Desert acknowledges the entire spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit community and recognizes the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society,” stated Judi Olivas, President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals CA, Desert Communities Chapter. “In this challenging time, we are more committed than ever before to celebrating philanthropy and this year’s remarkable nominees. We are excited to engage the entire community with our new, virtual program, and look forward to shining a spotlight on those who are going above and beyond all year long, as well as during this time of increased need,” Olivas continued.

Founded in 1960, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the professional association of individuals and organizations which generates philanthropic support for a wide variety of charitable institutions, advancing philanthropy forward through its 31,556 members in 244 chapters throughout the world. AFP works to foster philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and professional certification programs, while promoting high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. The AFP Desert Communities Chapter currently boasts a membership of more than 100 fundraising professionals within the Coachella Valley.
Celebrating its 60th year milestone, National Philanthropy Day® is a special day set aside for the purpose of recognizing the great contribution philanthropy makes to our society. Here in the Coachella Valley, it is a day when we pay tribute to our own – the exemplary local philanthropists, businesses, and organizations who give so generously of their time, talents, skills, and financial support, in order to make our community a much better place for us all. The Desert Communities Chapter of AFP believes that philanthropy benefits not only our own communities, but enriches and empowers the global community. National Philanthropy Day® offers an opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of charitable giving and the spirit that makes such generosity possible.

“I am honored to be the Event Chair of the NPD Awards, and to have the opportunity to highlight the profound impact the nonprofit community has throughout the Coachella Valley,” stated Kristin Bloomer. “Now more than ever, I personally invite you to celebrate philanthropy and recognize all those who serve and support all of the communities within our Valley,” she continued.
