BIGHORN Cares Presented over $800,000 to Coachella Valley nonprofits

BIGHORN Golf Club Charities (BGCC) is honored by announcing the distribution of more than $800,000 to 53 deserving Coachella Valley nonprofit agencies through its 2025 BIGHORN Cares grants. Since its inception 11 years ago as a part of BGCC, BIGHORN Cares has been enthusiastically supported by the generosity and philanthropic nature of BIGHORN Members.

Selected nonprofits received distribution at an invitation-only Donor and Recipient Awards Dinner on January 20, 2026, at The Vault at BIGHORN.

This grant cycle, BIGHORN Cares received funding requests totaling $4.8 million from 200 nonprofit organizations across the Coachella Valley. Reviewing and selecting recipients is never easy, noted Kelly Levy, BIGHORN’s Director of Charities, who personally visits each organization to understand how grant funds will be applied to specific initiatives and programs.

“Every request represents important, meaningful work,” Levy shared. “What made this year particularly challenging is how interconnected these organizations are in their efforts to strengthen our community.” She also expressed appreciation for the BIGHORN donors, volunteers, and BIGHORN Cares Board Members whose continued support made this year’s grants possible.

Joe Kirby, Chairman of BIGHORN Cares, emphasized the program’s mission to drive lasting impact. “Our goal is to invest in projects that deliver real, measurable outcomes,” Kirby said. “These grants are a reflection of our belief in the local organizations doing essential work and our commitment to helping them build a stronger future for the region.”

Media interested in attending the Jan. 20 Donor and Recipient Awards Dinner must RSVP with Kelly Levy before Jan. 18, 2026.

In total, BIGHORN Cares has donated more than $7 million to support 706 specific projects for local nonprofits that demonstrate a need and make a real difference in the quality of life for people in the Coachella Valley. BIGHORN Cares Board Members include John H. Beury III, Edward Burger, Carl Cardinalli, Claire Gagan, Sarah Gagan, Bruce McPherson and Chairman Joe Kirby.
