Bob Hope USO provides USO services and programming to all of Southern California north of San Diego. An independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization operating under a charter from USO, Inc., they provide moral and recreational services to members of the U.S. military. They operate airport centers at LAX, Ontario International Airport and Palm Springs International Airport, as well as providing USO programming and outreach at military installations across Southern California. Although congressionally chartered, they are not a government agency and rely entirely on contributions from patriotic Americans and philanthropic corporations and organizations.
Each year, they provide direct services to over 100,000 military members, their families and eligible military retirees in Southern California. They provide complimentary sandwiches, snacks and beverages as well as an array of facilities and services. The Palm Springs Center also serves as the base of operations for USO outreach programs throughout the area including homecomings and deployments. Complimentary phone calls throughout the country on our “I-Freedom” telephone system allow our troops an opportunity to phone home during their visit.
The annual Spirit of Hope Gala, sponsored by The Management Trust, has raised over $25,000 a year to help provide these services. Held on Veterans’ Day each year, the evening honors our military and the hardworking volunteers who give countless hours to the organization.
