CVRep Writers Group Holds 6th Annual “Twilight Café” Staged Readings

The CVRep Writers Group, part of the Conservatory at Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre in Rancho Mirage, held its 6th Annual “Tales from the Twilight Café” evening of public staged readings on June 30. The readings were held before a sell-out crowd at Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre in Rancho Mirage.

“Our audience enjoyed twelve pieces by our group’s local writers,” said Andy Harmon, director of the readings and head of the Writers Group. According to Harmon, they included short plays, monologues, memoirs, and poetry – read by both group members and local actors.

The works presented included: Shadow Man and You Did It! by Roy Boucher; A Startling Experience and In the Supermarket by Babs Bay; Meet the Doppelgangers by Jennifer “JJ” Jank; Blame Heisenberg by Andy Harmon; Lost and Found by Janie Kelley; Letter to Robert Front and The Guernsey Chronicles by Anita Harmon; Where Oh Where Has My Diaphragm Gone? by Vickie Rabjohn; Say Goodbye to Hollywood by Bruce Bonafede; and I Am Miriam by Barbara Fast.

“This Twilight Café saw an increase in collaboration between our members and local actors,” said Harmon. “Half of our dozen pieces were performed by local actors kind enough to help us provide exciting and entertaining theatre to the local community.”

The CVRep Writers Group meets on the second and fourth Saturday in the month between September and June. Membership is open to all writers who are interested in becoming better story tellers, developing their public speaking skills, and learning what performance has to teach.

Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre at the Atrium is at 69-930 Highway 111, Suite 116, Rancho Mirage, California 92270. For further information about the Writers Group at the CVRep Conservatory, please contact CVRepwritersgroup@gmail.com.
