The “Children’s Champion” campaign raised funds for organization’s Therapeutic Childcare and other initiatives focused on children
Thanks to the generosity of Eva M. Gagnon Living Trust, donations up to $200,000 were matched dollar-for-dollar
WHAT:
Father Joe’s Villages, San Diego’s largest homelessness services provider, has raised $439,000 for children and families experiencing homelessness through its annual Children’s Champion campaign.
Between April 9 and April 22, generous donors and supporters helped the organization raise just over $239,000 for children in need. The drive also had a match of up to $200,000 generously provided by the Eva M. Gagnon Living Trust, bringing the total to just over $439,000.
Funds raised during the matching gift campaign will be used to provide critical care for children and families in need, including meals, shelter, support, and Therapeutic Childcare, which is a program that cares for children and helps them develop in a healthy way while parents search for employment and housing.
WHY:
Father Joe’s Villages believes all children deserve a happy and healthy life. With Investing in Children as one of its guiding Pillars of Care, the organization is committed to helping children and families in need overcome homelessness.
Research shows that children who have experienced homelessness are four times more likely to have delayed development and are twice as likely to repeat a grade in school.
Funds raised during this campaign will directly support life-changing services for families and children in need throughout San Diego. If you would like to join attendees in providing this critical care, you can take action by donating, advocating, or volunteering.
QUOTE:
“Investing in Children is one of our guiding principles, and we put that principle into action each year with events like our Children’s Champion campaign and our Children’s Charity Gala,” said Deacon Jim Vargas, President and CEO of Father Joe’s Villages. “Together, we can help support families in need and forge a brighter future for children who are experiencing homelessness in San Diego.”
