Recently featured in People Magazine, SHOES THAT FIT provides NEW athletic shoes to underprivileged children nationwide. You may think why shoes? But when a family has to choose between rent, utilities, food AND shoes, shoes often come last especially recently as families struggle financially during COVID-19.

For children who don’t have the proper shoes, school can be a time of fear and embarrassment. One out of five children in the United States lives in poverty and this time of year can be financially challenging for their families. Going to school in shoes that are old or ill fitting can lead to shame, pain and embarrassment, preventing kids from reaching their full potential inside and outside of the classroom.

Their Mission is to tackle this, as one of the most visible signs of poverty in America by giving children in need new sneakers to attend school with dignity and joy, prepared to learn, play and thrive.

A new pair of shoes can be a life-changing event for a child. School attendance, self-esteem, and behavior improve. Physical activity increases. Smiles return. All from an often overlooked item – a good pair of shoes. Our vision is that, one day, every child in America who needs new shoes gets new shoes, allowing all children the opportunity to reach their highest potential. The teachers who work with the children we help report significant increases in:
• Self-Esteem
• School attendance
• Participation in physical activity
