April Brown is a woman of many “firsts” and her career history is a record of her adventurous life. She’s owned a restaurant, worked as a carpenter and standup comedienne and is one of the first women in the 1970’s to begin a career in law enforcement as a patrol officer. In 2008 she started Charity Getaways, a travel consignment company to help her clients raise more money. Her passion for people and the planet is rooted in a perspective gained from her travels. If that’s not enough, April’s love of animals prompted her to establish Whisker City Cat Rescue, a feline rescue organization in Shoreline. Whisker City is an adoption sanctuary and base for the Whiskers on Wheels mobile adoption bus.
April Brown is the author of Poetic Justice, an exposé on the world of copyright trolling. In 2011, she became the target of an aggressive and abusive copyright troll and decided to fight back. Poetic Justice is the first book written about the victims of the sleazy and controversial practice of entrapping innocent people who share content on the Internet.
When April isn’t traveling the country conducting auctions and rescuing animals, she’s circling the globe searching for travel destinations for Charity Getaways. She makes her home in Shoreline with her pets and endless home improvement projects.
