Association of Fundraising Professionals CA., Desert Communities Announces Call for Nominations for 14th Annual National Philanthropy Day in the Desert Awards Luncheon on Friday, November 6, 2020

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, CA., Desert Communities Chapter, has announced nominations are now open and being accepted immediately for the 14th Annual National Philanthropy Day® In The Desert Awards Luncheon, scheduled to take place on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California.

“We are excited to start receiving nominations for this year’s Annual National Philanthropy Day® In The Desert Awards Luncheon,” stated Kristin Bloomer, National Philanthropy Day® Event Chair. “I am honored to be the event chairperson, and to have the opportunity of recognizing and bringing together businesses and community members to celebrate philanthropy within the Coachella Valley. Now more than ever, is the time to recognize all those who serve and support all of the communities of our Valley,” Bloomer continued.

Founded in 1960, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the professional association of individuals and organizations, generating philanthropic support for a wide variety of charitable institutions, and advancing philanthropy forward through its 31,556 members in 244 chapters throughout the world. AFP works to foster philanthropy through advocacy, research education, and professional certification programs, while promoting high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. The AFP Desert Communities Chapter currently boasts a membership of 102 fundraising professionals.

Celebrating its 60th milestone year, National Philanthropy Day® is a special day set aside for the purpose of recognizing the great contribution philanthropy makes in our society and within our communities. This special day honors individuals, businesses, foundations, and support organizations who are actively engaged in philanthropic endeavors. Here in the Coachella Valley, it is a day when we pay special tribute and honor our own outstanding local philanthropists who give so generously of their time, skills, talents, and financial support. These amazing philanthropists give back so much, thus making our communities a much better place for us all.

During the 14 years the Association of Fundraising Professionals CA., Desert Communities Chapter has hosted the National Philanthropy Day® In The Desert Awards Luncheon, 81outstanding individuals, businesses, foundations, and organizations have been honored.

“National Philanthropy Day® In The Desert is revered as the premier celebration of Coachella Valley’s philanthropic community,” stated Judi Olivas, President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals CA., Desert Communities Chapter. “This year, more than any other year, we look forward to celebrating our 2020 outstanding honorees, who exemplify the passionate spirit of the daily contributions made by individuals, corporations, foundations, and volunteers. In these unprecedented times, National Philanthropy Day® In The Desert is more important than ever, as it serves to inspire our community and honors those who truly make a difference,” Olivas continued.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals CA., Desert Communities Chapter, is accepting nominations immediately in the following five categories:

OUTSTANDING PHILANTHROPIST

OUTSTANDING FOUNDER OF A COACHELLA VALLEY NON-PROFIT

OUTSTANDING FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEER

OUTSTANDING PHILANTHROPIC FOUNDATION, CORPORATION, OR CIVIC/SERVICE ORGANIZATION

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN PHILANTHROPY

The Association of Fundraising Professionals CA, Desert Communities Chapter, invites nominations from the entire Coachella Valley community, whether or not you are a member of the organization. Nomination forms are available online at www.afpcadesert.org The deadline to submit one or more nominations is 5:00 pm on May 18, 2020. Award winners will be honored and celebrated at the 14th Annual National Philanthropy Day® In The Desert Awards Luncheon on Friday, November 6, 2020. Individual tickets are $75 per person, which will go on sale online as of June 26, 2020. After November 1st, individual registration will be $125 per person available at the door, space permitting. Tables Sponsorships (seating ten) can be purchased for $ 1,200.
