Coachella Valley Has Sole is having a shoe drive at The Living Desert on Saturday, April 5 from 9 am to 1:30 pm. Please bring your new or gently used shoes to the collection point in the drive through loop by the flag pole outside the entrance gates. There will be several Coachella Valley Has Sole team members there to assist you with your drop off into shoe collection boxes.
Coachella Valley Has Sole collects all types of shoes, sorts and cleans them, and if needed, puts in new insoles and shoe laces. Any shoes that are deemed unfit are taken to a recycling facility to be made into sustainable products. In this way, there is absolutely no waste, and nothing is going in the landfill.
Shoes are then donated to three very needy causes:
1. Coachella Valley Rescue Mission- to help families get back on their feet, and have appropriate footwear to interview for potential jobs.
2. Desert Hot Springs Middle and High School – to provide quality sneakers for the students for everyday wear for school, and give the children an opportunity to participate in sports.
3. Well in the Desert – to provide large and wide size footwear for the homeless population.
Please clean out your closets, and help support this worthy cause!
The Living Desert is located at 47900 Portola Ave, Palm Desert, CA.
Judy and Mike Wexler, the founders of Coachella Valley Has Sole, are putting their passion for helping others into action by providing gently used shoes to those in need across the valley. Their organization collects shoes from local businesses like Running Wild and the Birkenstock store, hosts shoe drives, and partners with local organizations such as the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission and area schools.
One recent collaboration saw the couple meeting with Don Kick, the owner of Running Wild, to donate more than 250 pairs of sneakers valued at $30,000 to Painted Hills Middle School students in Desert Hot Springs. This generous donation is part of their ongoing effort to support the local community and make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
For those looking to get involved or donate, Coachella Valley Has Sole is always welcoming new partnerships and contributions to continue their vital work in the community.
