Coachella Valley History Museum: Sunday Funday in Downtown Indio

Start a new Sunday tradition this month. Graze among fresh produce at the Indio Certified Farmers Market, and follow it with a tour through Coachella Valley History Museum.

The Indio Certified Farmers Market returns at the corner of Bliss Avenue and Towne Street, right around the corner from the museum. Hours are 9:00AM to 2:00PM every Sunday. Museum hours on Sunday are 1:00PM to 4:00PM.

The Indio Certified Farmers Market and Coachella Valley History Museum make a great match, especially since many of the museum’s permanent exhibitions highlight the importance of local agriculture and pioneering farmers to the founding and growth of the Coachella Valley. The Smiley-Tyler House, for example, has photos and artifacts on display from the valley’s earliest local farms and the valley’s very first store. The Date Museum and the Memorial Date Garden provide a walk through the historical significance of the date from the Middle East to its introduction to the Coachella Valley and its impact on our local culture.

Indio Certified Farmers Market: 45235 Towne St. Indio, CA 92201. Open Sundays from 9:00AM to 2:00PM.

Coachella Valley History Museum: 82616 Miles Ave, Indio, CA 92201. Open Sundays from 1:00PM to 4:00PM (and Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays from 10:00AM – 4:00PM).
