  – After more than 20 years of exemplary and compassionate service, Executive Director Darla Burkett has announced her retirement from Coachella Valley Rescue Mission. She will stay on to assist in the transition of leadership of the 54-year-old CVRM to Amanda Galindo.

“It has been a singular  honor in my life to serve this Mission and witness thousands of lives changed through the love and care extended here every day,” Burkett said  “I have every confidence in Amanda’s leadership and vision. I’m excited to support her in this transition.”

Galindo brings a “deep passion” for community service and over 15 years of leadership in nonprofit and social service work to her new role. A longtime advocate for vulnerable populations, Galindo is committed to creating lasting change through compassion, collaboration, and innovation. “I am deeply honored to step into this role and carry forward the powerful legacy Darla has built,”  she said. “Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is a cornerstone of hope in this community. I look forward to working alongside the incredible staff, volunteers, and supporters to continue changing lives.”

Coachella Valley Rescue Mission remains committed to its mission of transforming lives through shelter, recovery, meals, and long-term programs. The organization is currently expanding with the upcoming opening of a new women and children’s shelter and laundry facility this spring.
