Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Tops CV Giving Day With Most Donations

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission  received the most donations in the  annual CV Giving Day with 13 donations totaling $144,667, it was announced today.

The second annual online campaign helped raise more than $860,000 for over 160 local nonprofits  from 1,790 donors, surpassing last year’s total by $490,000.

“ We grateful for the overwhelming support from our generous  donors,” said CVRM Executive Director Darla Burkett.

CV Giving Day was first launched in 2023 to increase philanthropy and awareness of local causes. The 24-hour online event on March 5 was presented by First Bank, one of the nation’s largest privately held banks with a focus on “banking for good,” and Desert Community Foundation.

The Indio based Rescue Mission was founded in 1971, offering food, clothing, and safe shelter to anyone in need.  CVRM is the only emergency shelter between Blythe and San Diego that offers over 320,000 meals and 108,000 bed nights of shelter. CVRM helps people end their cycle of homelessness with extensive counseling, job training, and job placement services.

CVRM’s success rate for those entering residential programs and emerging employed and having housing is 80 percent.
