DAP Health Equity Walk Raises Over $270,000

The Popular Annual Event Is Another Winner For The Nonprofit And The Communities It Serves

Community members from across the Coachella Valley gathered at Ruth Hardy Park in Palm Springs on Saturday, October 28 to walk out loud in support of health equity. Previously known as the Desert AIDS Walk, the DAP Health Equity Walk was a huge success, with over 50 registered walking teams and several hundreds of individuals raising over $270,000 to benefit DAP Health’s efforts to protect and expand health care access in our region.

There were incredible speeches from representatives across the valley, including Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz and DAP Health CEO David Brinkman, plus a special performance by the Gay Men’s Chorus.

New to the annual event was the AIDS Memorial Pavillion, where attendees shared stories and photos of loved ones lost to — or living with — HIV/AIDS on the memorial wall. Inside the Pavillion was also a Day of the Dead altar (commonly known in the Hispanic/Latino community as a Día de Los Muertos ofrenda) to remember and honor LGBTQ+ community members who have passed.
