| — The Family YMCA of the Desert has named Stephen MacAller as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 8, 2026. Selected unanimously by the Y’s Board of Directors following a comprehensive and thoughtful search process in partnership with YMCA of the USA, MacAller will lead the organization into its next chapter of community impact.
In his new role, MacAller will build on the strong foundation already in place, with a focus on strengthening community impact, operations, and program development.
“Stephen brings more than 20 years of YMCA leadership experience and a demonstrated commitment to collaboration and strengthening the communities he serves,” said Patrick Klein, Chair of the Family YMCA of the Desert Board of Directors. “We are confident that his leadership will build on the strong foundation already in place and help lead the Family YMCA of the Desert into its next chapter of impact.”
“I am thrilled to join the Family YMCA of the Desert team and the Coachella Valley Community” said Steve MacAller. “I grew up at the Y in Thousand Oaks, California, starting as a summer camper and swim team kid, becoming a camp counselor, and ultimately, Program Director. I have enjoyed working as a YMCA Executive in communities including Rochester, NY, Buffalo, NY, and most recently, Los Angeles, CA. The YMCA has impacted my life in so many positive ways and I’m thrilled to be able to give back.”
MacAller brings more than 20 years of YMCA leadership experience, with a strong background in community impact, operations, and program development. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to collaboration and strengthening the communities he serves.
The Family YMCA of the Desert also extends its sincere appreciation to Paul Andresen, who served as Interim CEO during the organization’s leadership transition. The Board is grateful for his time, dedication, and guidance during this period and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors. |
