JFS and My Jump! Collaborate to Help Seniors with their Bucket List Adventures

In an innovative partnership, Jewish Family Service of the Desert (JFS), a nonprofit, non-sectarian provider of social services in the Coachella Valley collaborates with MY Jump! (What’s Left on Your Bucket List) a nonprofit that helps local seniors with a chance to realize their dreams.

The COVID pandemic has affected all of us, but seniors have been hit especially hard due to the need to isolate for personal and public safety concerns. Too often, seniors live forgotten lives, but JFS and MY JUMP! have come together bringing local seniors a chance for exhilaration by engaging in activities such as flying in a bi-plane, or taking a hot-air balloon ride. In the case of one JFS client, Dottie, a chance to celebrate in-person with friends for her 98th birthday as they enjoy a great margarita and delectable Mexican cuisine!

Webb Weiman, Founder, MY JUMP! said, “When you lose your mother, brother and father to cancer and Parkinson’s Disease, you tend to grow up quickly when you encounter health challenges with your loved ones, I took those adversities and turned them into strength and determination. I wanted to help and enrich the lives of seniors to fulfill what’s left on their bucket list.”
Webb went on to say, ”When I was growing up I thought 50 was ‘old,’ and now that I’m there, I can’t believe what people 40 years older than me are doing with their lives!”

“Webb has been a presenter at JFS’s Let’s Do Lunch events and plants the seeds with our seniors about how they can get a once-in-a-lifetime experience. JFS offers mental health counseling, case management with emergency financial assistance, and community outreach that includes MY JUMP! events that brings a huge smile to the face of each senior served,” mentioned Kraig Johnson, Executive Director, JFS Desert.

About Jewish Family Service of the Desert
JFS is a non-sectarian agency founded on the Jewish principle of “Healing the World” (Tikkun Olam), and we currently offer that support through in-person and Telecare mental health counseling, augmented case management that includes one of the only sources of emergency financial assistance in the Valley, well-check phone calls to isolated clients, and special programming for our local Holocaust survivors. For nearly 40 years, JFS has offered life-sustaining support. We are passionate about our Coachella Valley, and we now offer nearly 16,000 annual services to over 3200 clients. If it touches the heart of the Valley, it touches the heart of JFS! Become a member of the JFS family by volunteering or donating.
