JFS Desert Hires Director of Major Gifts and Development To Ensure Long-Term Funding for Direct Service Organization

JFS Desert is pleased to announce that Cheryl Salvay-Scarlett has been named Director of Major Gifts and Fundraising. She will have a pivotal role in the acquisition of major gifts and increasing the organizations fundraising efforts through individual and corporate giving programs.
“We are delighted to add someone with Cheryl’s experience and community ties to our staff. This newly created position will allow JFS to continue its strategy of growing our programs, which include: direct funding to keep seniors from becoming homeless, counseling and social service needs of the Jewish and general community, ” said Maureen Forman, CEO, JFS Desert.
In her over 15-year career in fundraising and supporting initiatives for non-profit organizations, her grassroots approach tied with her collaborative spirit has given her the ability to build and meet significant long-term fundraising goals. With a keen sense of communications and marketing strategies, her integration into JFS’ event and media plans is a natural fit.
“As a 20-year resident of the Coachella Valley, I will bring a great depth of understanding of our local philanthropic community and strategic relationships to JFS. My membership in the National Charity League, Center of Non-Profit Advancement, Temple Sinai in Palm Desert and a member of the Jewish Family Service Auxiliary, will allow me to assist with JFS’ long-range financial planning, annual fundraising events for operations and legacy giving programs,” commented Cheryl Salvay-Scarlett.
