Martha’s Village Presents a Pantry Pop Up! At Westfield Palm Desert

Join Martha’s Village and Kitchen for a special Pantry Pop-Up event at Westfield Palm Desert Friday, April 16 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Learn about the great work that Martha’s does throughout the Coachella Valley to feed our neighbors in need through our Emergency Food Pantry. Did you know that we are one of few pantries that is not subsidized and therefore we need to rely on the community for support? And did you know that most pantries do not give fresh meat? Well, Martha’s does! We go over and above to meet community food insecurities.

A pantry is a room where beverages, food, and sometimes dishes, household cleaning chemicals, linens, or provisions are stored. The word “pantry,” derives from the same source as the Old French term paneterie – that is from pain, the French form of the Latin panis, “bread.” Since Martha’s Village does not forget infants, we also add baby formula, diapers, and other items to our pantry for children, mothers, and families in need.

See a pop-up replica of our Emergency Food Pantry and talk with staff about how Martha’s fights food insecurity every day. Bring your young ones to the Kids Zone for a special hands-on family food groups activity! And the fun doesn’t stop there. Each visitor will have an opportunity to spin our NEW Prize Wheel!

About Martha’s Village and Kitchen

Martha’s Village and Kitchen is one of the largest providers of homeless services in the Coachella Valley and Riverside County. The organization began in 1990 when the founders served meals to their homeless neighbors. Today, from its campus in Indio, CA, Martha’s Village offers unique life-changing programs based on the nationally-recognized “continuum of care model” breaking the cycle of homelessness. Through this gateway to hope, people regain their lives becoming responsible, self-sufficient and productive citizens while passing on their newfound independence and life skills to their children and families. Changing one person’s life, changes generations of lives. www.marthasvillage.org
