Margaret initially joined the Club as a member of the Board of Directors. In 2018, when the Club faced challenges in finding a suitable candidate for the Executive Director position, she stepped up to lead the organization. This unexpected career shift has proven to be a life-changing and fulfilling journey.
Under her leadership, the Club has expanded its programs and services, including the establishment of a Health & Wellness Center which houses a cannabis education program. This program focuses on cannabis prevention in teens, addressing the irreversible negative effects of cannabis on the developing brain. This initiative is particularly crucial in Palm Springs, where cannabis is legal for recreational use and the city is surrounded by dispensaries.
Currently, the Club impacts over 15,000 youth each year. Palm Springs Unified School District Foundation reports that 97% of students in the District are socio-economically disadvantaged and 12% are homeless. Academically, only 42% are proficient in reading and 21% are proficient in math. Margaret is proud to be at the helm of an organization providing the resources and mentors needed to make long-term positive impacts on the lives of these at-risk youth.
Margaret is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to thrive and is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive community. She recognizes the importance of leading the mission while also ensuring the Club operates efficiently and effectively. Her extensive background has been instrumental in establishing the necessary structure and securing vital sponsorships and donations, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the Club’s mission. |
