This March 8 & 9, Alzheimers Coachella Valley (ACV) and National Charity League, Coachella Valley Chapter (NCLCV) will host “Vintage Prep”, a two-day pop-up shop of curated, pre-owned fashion at The River Rancho Mirage.
As a former member of NCLCV, ACV Programs Director and NCLCV Sustainers Group President, Priscilla Kubas, helped run a bi-annual rummage sale to raise scholarship funds for local high school girls who were planning to attend College of the Desert after finishing High School. After a hiatus of over seven years, and a visit to some amazing thrift shops in Vienna, Austria, Priscilla decided to re-visit the concept, but in a more thoughtful and youthful way. In partnership with The River Rancho Mirage, “Vintage Prep” will offer a highly curated offering of pre-owned clothing, jewelry, and accessories with a classic ‘preppy’ aesthetic. In conjunction with the “Vintage Prep” pop-up shop, 3M Studios will be hosting a live Music at the River event featuring Mark Gregg, the Salton City Surf Club and Empty Seat. The latter two bands were featured in the River’s Battle of the Bands competition last Fall.
“Pop-Up Shops are a fun, youthful, trend, that offer our customers an ever-changing, exciting, experience”, says Joanne Gabruk Schoeman, Special Events Director at The River Rancho Mirage, “when Mandy Calvano of 3M Studios came to us with this idea on behalf of one of her favorite philanthropies, ACV, and added live music, we were thrilled to get on board and support!” The River Rancho Mirage has donated their suite #A113 between the new location of Cowboy Cantina and Ben & Jerry’s for the “Vintage Prep” Pop Up Shop. The store will be open Noon to 9:00 PM on Saturday, March 8 and from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 9. Mark Gregg of 3M Studios, LLC, will be hosting a “Sing & Stomp” sing-a-long from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday evening. Local favorites, Salton City Surf Club is slated to perform Sunday afternoon from Noon to 2:00 PM pm with Empty Seat following at 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM pm in the amphitheater at The River Rancho Mirage.
