Ribbon Cutting at J’s Deli, Palm Desert Set for Wednesday May 18th

Celebrate the culmination of a 40-year dream at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, when co-owner Jay Rubenstein and local business and civic officials participate in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at J’s Deli, 74225 Highway 111. The site formerly was occupied by Manhattan in the Desert.

The monthly Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce mixer follows from 5-7 p.m.

Open since March, the restaurant quickly gained a foothold in the palates of Valley residents by offering open, airy ambiance that includes a spectacular patio and a large, private room that is available for functions separate from the restaurant; a wide, popular range of freshly prepared menu items; and a commitment to providing superior customer service.

“Ron (Tamkin, co-owner) and I were determined to take our restaurant many steps above the stereotypical deli,” said Rubenstein. “We felt the package we offered was something missing from the Valley, something it’s needed for a long time, and we are grateful for the response.”

J’s Deli serves a mix of breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the day. Dotting the menu are waffles and hotcakes, sandwiches, burgers and salads; meatloaf, seafood, steak vegetarian dishes and more. Pastries, cake, cheesecake and other dessert items are made onsite.

            J’s Deli also is pet-friendly.

“I’ve been in this business 40 years, and always pursued opening my ‘dream’ restaurant,” said Rubenstein. “With Ron sharing my vision, this dream has become reality.”

J’s Deli’s hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, so the public has full access to the restaurant during the ribbon-cutting and chamber mixer.
