Ronald McDonald House Inland Empire Announces 2022 Walk For Kids Event on Sunday, April 24th to Benefit Critically Ill Children and Their Families

100% of proceeds will help keep families with hospitalized children together and near the comfort, care and critical resources they need

WHAT: Walk for Kids, an annual family-friendly 5k fundraising event supporting the families with critically ill children served by Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC), returns to in-person this year with Walk events taking place across the Southland from April 24 to May 21. The campaign aims to raise $4 million for local programs supporting families in Inland Empire, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Orange County, Pasadena, and Ventura who must travel outside their communities to access long-term medical treatment at local hospitals. The Walk also supports the largest child oncology camp in the nation, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.  Walk For Kids 2022 creates a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage, and joy.

“We are thrilled to host our Walk for Kids in person again this year. As Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California’s largest fundraiser of the year, the support we receive from the community enables us to keep families close when they need us most—when their child is impacted by a medical crisis,” said Fatima Djelmane-Rodriguez, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California. “Our highest priority is the health and safety of our walkers and communities and we invite supporters to participate in the way they feel most comfortable.”

Supporters are invited to participate by:

·       Donating at walkforkids.org, or by visiting an Inland Empire McDonald’s restaurant from April 4 – April 30 to participate in the in-restaurant fundraiser. Supporters may simply stop by any McDonald’s restaurant in Riverside or San Bernardino county to donate $1, $2 or $3 at the register, in the drive-thru and/or by rounding up their total order to the nearest dollar with the difference. 100% of proceeds will directly benefit RMHCSC.

·       Signing up to start, or join, a Walk team by visiting walkforkids.org. All in-person events will strictly adhere to local health guidelines and proof of full vaccination or negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of the event will be required for on-site participation. RMHCSC Health & Safety policies are updated based on the evolving circumstances and may change.
