The Living Desert and Palm Springs Art Museum Partner to Offer Members Free Summer Admission

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens and Palm Springs Art Museum have partnered to give desert locals a special summer benefit. Now through September 30, members of either organization will be offered free admission to both establishments.

“Each summer we look forward to partnering with Palm Springs Art Museum to provide our members with the added benefit of admission to the museum, and welcome their members to The Living Desert as well,” said Erin Scott, Senior Marketing and Public Relations Manager, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens.

Members of The Living Desert are allowed free entry into all three Palm Springs Art Museum locations: main museum, Architecture + Design Center, and The Galen and Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden in Palm Desert. Palm Springs Art Museum members receive free entry to The Living Desert. To take advantage of the offer, guests are to show their membership card at admissions.

“Our members love the partnership with The Living Desert and the added value it brings during summer months,” said Michael Hinkle, Director of Membership & Donor Relations at Palm Springs Art Museum. “We encourage everyone to explore memberships at these institutions and enjoy the culture and wildlife that’s unique to our desert.”

Visitors to The Living Desert will be able to encounter Vicky Lou, the giraffe calf born in March, bighorn sheep lambs, a Nigerian dwarf goat kid, and Chacoan peccary piglets, among others recently born on the conservation grounds. In addition, the African wild dog puppies, born on April 24th, are expected to make their public debut soon. Daily programming includes keeper chats, the reptile show, and giraffe feeding.

At Palm Springs Art Museum, visitors can experience “Brave New Worlds: Explorations of Space” exhibition, on display through December 2019.  This exhibition allows guests to enter the creative universes of five contemporary artists through sculpturally immersive installations. At Palm Springs Art Museum Palm Desert, The Galen guests will be treated to the continuing “Shoulder to Shoulder: Depicting the Figure” exhibition, a survey of how artists have represented the body across cultural contexts and artistic movement. Through July 7, the Architecture and Design Center is showcasing “Hugh Kaptur: Organic Desert Architecture”.

The partnership program does not entitle either member group to receive additional member benefits at the reciprocating location, such as discounts on food, retail, tours, etc.
