The Regional Access Project and Desert Healthcare District partner to offer grants to address critical behavioral/mental health needs in the Coachella Valley

The Regional Access Project Foundation will partner with Desert Healthcare District & Foundation (DHCD) to offer $800,000 in cash grants and $72,450 for technical assistance through a Request for Proposal (RFP).

RAP and DHCD are seeking Letters of Intent from interested organizations with a submission deadline of February 27. Interested organizations must attend a Bidders Meeting scheduled for February 13. For more information, please visit www.rapfoundation.org.

This collaborative funding opportunity is intended to provide resources to organizations seeking to improve the quality of behavioral/mental health services in remote areas of the desert, and to enhance awareness of behavioral/mental health resources. In addition, the goal of this funding is to ensure cultural competency of behavioral/mental health providers and to eliminate barriers to their services.

“This partnership between the DHCD & Foundation and RAP demonstrates both funders’ commitment to improve access to behavioral/mental health services,” said RAP CEO Leticia De Lara. “And by combining our resources we can make the process more efficient for organizations in need of additional resources to deliver their services.”

Funding requests can be made and used for any programmatic cost, such as staff time, supplies, general operations, etc. In addition to the cash grant, eligible recipients will receive a Technical Assistance Grant valued at $3,800, which includes: 15 hours of consulting services and other benefits.

“Improving access to behavioral and mental healthcare is an integral part of what we do as a Healthcare District, and it is prioritized in our new Strategic Plan,” said Conrado Barzaga, Desert Healthcare District and Foundation CEO. “We recognize that the community need for these services requires a collaborative approach. We are proud to partner with Regional Access Project Foundation to identify and fund other partners through the RFP to ensure all Coachella Valley residents have access to behavioral/mental healthcare.”
