Three Years in a Row Eisenhower Health Only Hospital in Riverside County to Receive FIVE STARS in USA Government Rating System.

For a third consecutive year, Eisenhower Health has earned a five-star hospital quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) — the highest distinction offered by the federal agency. Only 10 percent of hospitals NATIONWIDE received five stars.

“I want to commend our physicians, providers, nurses, staff members and volunteers on this most recent CMS five-star hospital quality rating,” says Martin Massiello, President and Chief Executive Officer, Eisenhower Health. “To earn five-star recognition from CMS three years in a row is a testament to the dedication of our caregivers, and demonstrates Eisenhower’s continued commitment to providing safe, patient-centered care to those we are privileged to serve.”

Care Compare (CMS’s website that posts the quality ratings) is a consumer-oriented website that provides information on how well hospitals provide care to their patients. This information can help consumers make informed decisions about health care.

The CMS rating summarizes nearly 50 quality measures reflecting common conditions that hospitals treat, such as heart attacks or pneumonia, as well as measures that focus on hospital-acquired infections, including catheter-associated urinary tract infections.

The overall rating demonstrates how well each hospital performed, on average, as compared to other hospitals in the U.S. Hospital ratings range.

“This rating reaffirms our ongoing dedication to providing high-quality care and the continuous efforts made by our team to improve patient outcomes,” says Eric Leroux, MD, Chief Quality Officer and Vice President, Quality and Process Improvement, Eisenhower Health. “Our five-star rating reflects the collective efforts of every individual at Eisenhower who contributes to making a significant and positive difference in the health of our community.”

The methodology uses a statistical model known as a latent variable model. Five different latent variable models are used to calculate scores for five groups of measures including: Mortality; Safety of Care; Readmissions; Patient Experience; Timely and Effective Care.
