ONLY Coachella Valley hospital to be recognized in national annual ranking system

Eisenhower Health has been recognized as a Best Hospital for 2022-23 by U.S. News & World Report, ranking #2 in the Inland Empire and #21 in California. Eisenhower Health is the only hospital in the Coachella Valley to be recognized as a Best Hospital in the annual ranking system.

The annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 33rd year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.

Eisenhower Health was also rated High Performing in 15 types of care — the highest number of specialty recognitions earned by a hospital in the Inland Empire. Those high-performing specialties include:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Colon Cancer Surgery
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Attack

“We are so incredibly proud to be ranked among the nation’s best hospitals,” says Martin Massiello, President and Chief Executive Officer, Eisenhower Health. “This recognition reaffirms our physicians’, nurses’ and staff’s continued commitment to safe, compassionate care and the level of excellence our community has come to expect from Eisenhower Health.”

For the 2022-23 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. In the 15 specialty areas, 164 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care.

“The hospitals named among the best have extensive medical expertise and a history of delivering good outcomes,” says Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “When patients and their medical professionals are considering their options for care, the rankings are designed to help them identify hospitals that are superior in the kind of care they may need.”

The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
