NAPEO Charity Initiative Raises $193,469 for Coachella Valley Rescue Mission The trade association’s members raised funds leading up to its annual conference in Palm Springs

The National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO) announced today that its charity initiative, NAPEO Gives Back, has raised $193,469 for Indio-based organization Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM). NAPEO members also packed 500 hygiene kits and 500 food kits which will be distributed to those in need in the region.

Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization that provides short and long-term aid to the homeless population of the Coachella Valley region. In addition to their residential programs, CVRM operates with an outreach team that provides showers to homeless individuals using a portable unit. NAPEO’s donation will help fund the purchase of another portable shower unit and aid in their ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity.

NAPEO Gives Back was launched in 2019 by former NAPEO Board of Directors Chair Barron Guss to facilitate community involvement and charitable endeavors. The committee’s goal is to support a charity in the city where NAPEO holds its annual conference and leave the area better off than when they got there.

To date, NAPEO Gives Back has raised $270,000 and impacted communities in Austin, Marco Island, and San Antonio. These efforts have fed 11,000 veterans, offered music lessons to low-income students, and gave a food pantry the ability to purchase a long desired walk-in freezer. NAPEO is hosting its annual conference this week in Palm Springs, where NAPEO Gives Back co-chair Clay Kelley presented a check of $178,469 to CVRM on Tuesday night.

“We started NAPEO Gives Back in 2019 to harness the ‘power of many’ and contribute to the communities where we host our conferences in a meaningful way,” said Barron Guss, co-chair of the committee. “At a time where more and more people are going hungry due to food insecurity, we are grateful that our members banded together to help those in need.”

“NAPEO is a blessing to the communities that they support every year through NAPEO Gives Back. CVRM is grateful to be selected as this year’s recipient, and are amazed at the show of support from members all across the country,” added Darla Burkett, executive director of CVRM. “They have a passion for giving back. This generous gift will allow CVRM to continue to serve those in need in the Coachella Valley, providing street outreach services and food resources to our homeless and at-risk neighbors.”
