The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens is Temporarily Closed to the Public

At The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens we believe that we serve our community in a variety of ways, in addition to our commitment to the natural world. We are a place of family, inspiration, solace, community, and a way to connect with nature. All of these reasons are why we have committed to staying open to our community as long as possible.

We have worked diligently to adhere to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 guidelines and recommendations from the CDC, CA Department of Public Health, and Riverside County Department of Public Health.

However, in the interest of public health, the health of our team, and the new guidelines from multiple levels of government, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our public operations. This closure is in effect beginning today, March 17, 2020 at least until April 1, 2020.

For the most up-to-date information, please visit LivingDesert.org/Health.

The animals in our care are healthy and doing well. A core team of animal care, veterinary, facilities and operations professionals will continue to remain onsite during this temporary closure.

We stand with our community during this challenging and unprecedented time in history. We encourage our community to join us digitally, through our social media channels on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. We will be working to provide engaging content throughout the next few weeks, including animal profiles, behind-the-scenes features, as well as conservation stories.

Many of you have asked how you can support us. A couple of ways include joining or renewing your membership, symbolically adopting an animal, or donating to the Zoo. We thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you at The Living Desert soon.

Wild Regards,
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens Team
