Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley to Distribute Nearly $ 100,000 in College Scholarship Funds

Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley (WLF) announces that nearly $100,000 in college scholarship funds will be awarded to students enrolled in its Young Women Leaders Mentoring Program. Recipients will be recognized on Saturday, May 12, at WLF’s annual Scholarship Awards Brunch, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Miramonte Indian Wells Resort & Spa. Reesa Manning, a 2018 Women Who Rule honoree, will be the keynote speaker, while Mary Roche, founder of WLF, will also welcome scholarship recipients and their families.

WLF’s scholarships are awarded to the best and brightest students enrolled in its Young Women Leaders Mentoring Program. “The women and corporate partners of WLF feel privileged to honor such exceptional young ladies, who have made education a priority,” explains YWL Committee Co-Chairs Breeanna Fujio and Heather Benedict. “Our spring awards brunch is the ideal opportunity for current and future members of WLF to experience firsthand the extraordinary success of our efforts and the impact made on our scholarship honorees and the community in which we live.”

The scholarship funds originate from the community’s generous support and include: a $48,500 matching grant from OneFuture Coachella Valley, an Alignment USA community; a $10,000 donation from the Theresa Mike Foundation; a $5,000 scholarship from Desert Regional Medical Center; a $2,500 grant from First Republic Bank; a $1,000 grant from Newman’s Own Foundation. WLF’s year-long fundraising success further includes generous donations from philanthropists Jan Salta and Helene Galen.

Keynote speaker Reesa Manning was the founder of Penguins Frozen Yogurt, was a financial advisor for 20 years with UBS and Integrated Wealth Management, and served as the president of the Los Angeles Chapter of National Council of Jewish Women. Over the years, Manning has served on the boards of The National Association of Women Business Owners, the Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley, Women of Sinai, Temple Sinai and her HOA at Springs Country Club. She continues to advocate for women, helping others embrace and understand finances to ensure success.

The awards brunch is open to WLF members and all others interested in learning more about the organization. Event tickets can be purchased for $30. For more information, visitwww.wlfdesert.org.
